There is nothing aspirational here, and that is precisely the point. Photographer Yuki Gaderer’s “KÖRPER” arrives from Berlin with the city’s particular refusal of prettiness intact — bodies tattooed into autobiography, styled by Max Teutsch into something between subcultural archive and provocation. Models Jojo and El don’t perform for the camera so much as occupy it, moving through BDSM references and queer dress with the ease of people who have never needed fashion’s permission. Shot in black and white, stripped of context, these images ask what a body actually is when you remove everything it’s supposed to want to be.
